Uniforms and Flags

Greetings from the Bowels of the ship again!

I read comments from Rory and Pam that they like the idea of uniforms and a flag. So do I!!. I agree with pam that we could have more then one uniform. More like three. In the US Navy, submariners have a utility uniform, a duty uniform and a dress uniform. It sounds like a plan.

Some are long sleeve and some are short sleeve. Depends on the function of the crewman. If your in the engine room like me, or in the torpedo room, definitely long sleeves, but on the bridge short sleeve might be the attire of the day. At least we won't have the outer space pajamas like in STAR TREK the MOTION PICTURE. (Or as I call it the MOTIONLESS PICTURE, the crew looking at the screen with mouth wide open!)

Also how are we going to distinguish our selves for each department we represent? In Space 1999, they had a colored sleeve. In classic Star Trek, they had different colored shirts and a department badge on the chest. In Movie Trek, they all had the monster maroon jacket but different colored turtle neck shirts. Rank was usually shown on the cuff of the sleeve and sometimes the department worked.

As for a flag, banner or logo for the ship, that will take work. Do we want one for the UNSN say a flag based on the current UN flag, and a separate one for the ship? Or just a flag for the UNSN, and a banner for the ship?

Well that it for now. Hope to hear from you all on this matter quickly.

UNSN motto

Well I have been thinking and here is my motto suggestion:

"Maintaining peace and security within the solar system"
Maybe call our space navy division "The Peacekeepers" just like in the U.N. with their peacekeeping forces from each member country.

Also was thinking which word is better? Within the solar system or Throughout the solar system?

And on our flight suits, have a flag for what ever country that crew member is from. Kind of like in Stargate Atlantis.

Speaking of flight suits, OD Green, Royal Blue, Grey, or Black? which do you prefer?

Thanks

UNSN Motto

The UNSN has no motto as of yet, and so any suggestions would be welcome. Just comment on this post if you've got an idea - even if you're not in the UNSN. We'll have a few weeks thinking up ideas then we'll take a vote on a shortlist.

We have been in contact with larger organisations who run similar scenarios to see if they could advertise the UNSN to their own members. Will keep you posted on that. No replies as yet.

Crew Resignations

Cmdr Dysinger here with bad news

Two crew members have resigned.

Last week Lt. Jaired Birks and two days ago, CPO Joel Horton have resigned from the Pioneer. The entire weapons department is now vacant.

I hope to get friends from my Battlestar Galactica/Star Trek fan club to sign up with us.

As it stands right now, we can't get into a firefight. No manning in the weapons section. Later this week we will have plenty of power and speed once I finish installing and configuring the fusion reactors and the Fusion Drive system. But we don't have a navigator nor an helmsmen to get us from place to place.

So that covers all the bases for now.

We need more crew members!

Grease monkey ken here.

I need help!! All this work and I'm the only one working. I can only get so much done in one day. Plus we are in orbit attached to the ISS. Artif Grav is off line while I convert to fusion power generators. I have parts and stuff floating all over the engineering section.

Once I nail everything down I can get more done. Send food!!!

Still hammering

Greetings fellow crewmates

grease monkey ken still here in the bowels of the ship.

Nothing new today. No one has gone to read the blogs yet nor responded to my e-mails.

Oh well, still much work to be done.

To quote Dr. Horrible " The worlds a mess and I just need to RULE IT"
(see the video at www.drhorrible.com or www.hulu.com Type in Dr. horrible)

If we don't get enough players for our on-line RPG, I hope we can just keep things in stand-by mode till we have enough players. I have spent a lot of hours building the PIONEER and I would like to see it around for awhile.

BTW, we have our ship almost up and running, what are we going to be fighting against and who will be controlling those would be foes?

That's all for now

Current Engineering Projects

Greetings from the bowels of the ship!

As you all know, during our space trials it was discovered that the Antimatter drive did not work.

I have since been re-working and converting our main drive to a fusion torch drive. I'm getting the archive data from fusion drive trials from the past 10 years. Its a lot a data to sift through, but I'm almost done. I should have my report and engineering recommandations compleated with in the week.

I also need to speak with Capt Gregson and UNSN command about scrapping our SP-200 power units and converting to smaller more compact and powerful Fusion reactor power generation units.

With the SP-200 units they each generated 2 MWe of electrical energy. With the fusion reactor units we can get in the order of 100-200 MWe of electrical energy ,If I did the math right. We might keep one SP-200 unit in-standby mode for emergency back-up power. It depends on how much room I have left in engineering once the main fusion drive is installed and running.

That is all for now. I'm going to take a shower and get back to bed. But as they say, I'll get enough sleep when I die.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Pioneer!

We are a UN Space Navy Vessel Set in the Year 2020

I'm your host Commander Ken Dysinger, XO and Chief Engineer of the Pioneer.

We are setting up as an online roll playing scenario and are always looking for members to join our little ragtag group of space explorers and defenders of freedom in the solar system.

I will post more info later today as to the set up of the UNSN and The Pioneer.

That is all for now.
